So there has been one of those Danish Kringles in the office freezer

since about 2 weeks before Christmas. Surely the recipient of this gift has forgotten it exists and neglected his/her responsibility to share with others in the office. Is there some old English law regarding mislaid and abandoned property that authorizes me to lay this thing out in the break room? Law of surprise perhaps? Should I reach out to HR for guidance?
